PSYLLIUM - In a study published online August 27, 2009 entitled Soluble or insoluble fibre in irritable bowel syndrome in primary care? Randomised placebo controlled trial, the team lists the OBJECTIVE "To determine the effectiveness of increasing the dietary content of soluble fibre (psyllium) or insoluble fibre (bran) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome." The study was performed over a 12 week period on 275 patients that had irritable bowel syndrome and were between the ages of 18 and 65. The teams CONCLUSION "Psyllium offers benefits in patients with irritable bowel syndrome in primary care."  For the full details of the study, click here - BMJ 2009;339:b3154

ALOE - In a study published on August 18, 2013 entitled Aloe vera in treatment of refractory irritable bowel syndrome: Trial on Iranian patients, the team opens by stating "Despite all these unfavorable symptoms of the disease, effective therapies are lacking, and herbal agents are usually used for symptom control. Aloe vera is generally considered 'safe' and few studies have investigated the efficacy of Aloe vera in the treatment of IBS." Their study was performed over an 8 week period on 33 patients that had irritable bowel syndrome. The team summarizes their findings by reporting "In conclusion, Aloe vera can reduce abdominal pain/discomfort as well as flatulence in patients with constipation predominated IBS..."  For the full details of the study, click here - PMCID: PMC3872617

PAPAYA - In a study published in 2013 entitled Papaya preparation (Caricol®) in digestive disorders, the team lists the OBJECTIVE "Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is used as a natural remedy in abnormal digestion in tropical and industrialized countries. Besides this wide distribution little evidence has been produced with reference to its physiological effect in humans and the proof of efficacy. Former clinical observations had revealed positive effects for patients with constipation, heartburn, and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) after eating papaya preparations. In line with these former positive clinical observations, we studied the clinical effects of the papaya preparation Caricol® in a double blind placebo controlled study design." The study was performed over a 40 day period on volunteers with "chronic (prevailing) indigestions and dysfunctions in the gastrointestinal tract."  The teams CONCLUSION "We conclude from these results, that the papaya preparation (Caricol®) contributes to the maintenance of digestive tract physiology. It ameliorates various functional disturbances, like symptoms of IBS."  For the full details of the study, click here - PMID:23524622 Neuro Endocrinology Letters. 2013;34(1):38-46

INULIN - In a research article published online on November 23, 2010 in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition entitled Effects of chicory inulin in constipated elderly people: a double-blind controlled trial, the team opens by stating "The impact of the daily consumption of 15 g chicory native inulin on fecal levels of bifidobacteria, stool parameters and quality of life of elderly constipated volunteers was investigated in a randomized, double-blind, controlled versus placebo clinical trial." Their study was performed over a 28 day period on eldery patients that had constipation related irritable bowel syndrome. The team summarizes by reporting "Volunteers in the inulin group reported increased satisfaction about digestion and reduced defecation difficulties during the supplementation."  For the full details of the study, click here - PMID:21091293 DOI:10.3109/09637486.2010.527323

The magic's in the blend!  Each of the ingredients in our IBS Formula have been included for a specific digestive result.  At the time of writing this, I was unable to find clinical studies on our other ingredients, but that doesn't mean that they don't carry industry credibility as an IBS treatment.  Many medical professionals recommend these other ingredients for their patients suffering from IBS symptoms. For example, a quick Google search for slippery elm for ibs returns several first-page organic results for webpages by doctors that include slippery elm in their suggestions for IBS relief.

We've done the research and resolved our own struggles with IBS by combining the natural digestive aids in our IBS Formula.  If you spent the time and trouble to buy a 1 month supply of each of these supplements, it would cost you more than $150/month.  We've done the work on ourselves, and are now passing along our IBS treatment formula in an attempt to help everyone suffering from these horrible IBS symptoms, for less than $1/day and always free US Shipping!
